10 Don Bosco criteria to work on self-esteem

You are unique. You have your own strengths and weaknesses, your individual talents and skills. All your genes, your education and your experiences have combined to make you a person different from everyone else. You are a unique and original being. Comparisons will lead you to unhappiness, creating in you a false sense of superiority or inferiority. They will prevent you from having healthy self-esteem and developing as a person. Accept all the good things you have, don't crave what you can't achieve, don't compare yourself to anyone. Be yourself. The author puts current psychological concepts on self-esteem into Don Bosco's mouth. He does so from episodes or words from the Saint's biography, thus mixing yesterday and today.
