From the beginning of his activity in Medjugorje he began to dedicate himself to his literary work, writing books of spiritual content: “Pray with your heart”, “Give me your wounded heart”, “Celebrate the Mass with your heart”, “In the school of love”, “Adore My Son with your heart”, “With Jesus and Mary on Golgotha towards the Resurrection”, “Pray together with a joyful heart”, “Mother, guide us to peace”, “Follow Me with your heart” , “Conversations” and “Fast with your heart.” Slavko Barbaric's books have been translated into twenty languages and more than 20 million copies have been printed around the world. In addition to books, he published articles in various magazines.

Br. Slavko Barbaric crossed and traveled throughout the world spreading the message of peace and reconciliation. He was the heart and soul of the peace movement that was born in Medjugorje 40 years ago.

He died on November 24, 2000 at 3:30 p.m. After having finished the Way of the Cross prayer, which he usually led every Friday in Krizevac with the parish faithful and pilgrims.

Message from November 25, 2000: “Dear sons! Today, when heaven is in a special way close to you, I invite you to prayer, so that through prayer you put God first. Children, today I am close to you and I bless each one with my maternal blessing, so that you have strength and love for all the people you meet in your earthly life and that you can give the love of God. I rejoice with you and wish to tell you that your brother Slavko has been born to Heaven and that he intercedes for you. Thanks for recived my call!".
