Cor Mariae “Promises”
Maria's heart
Promises of the Virgin of Carmen
To those who live and die carrying the Holy Scapular.
The Holy Scapular is the great gift that Mary, omnipotent before her Son God, all heart towards her children, men, treasurer of all graces, brought us from heaven, making us in it the most precious promises that we could wish for. It has been very well called the SACRAMENT OF MARY.
“The general belief of the Catholic world, says the wise Jesuit P. Clarke, the promulgation of the teaching Church, the acceptance of the teaching Church, that is, the faithful, lacks nothing that can prove the supernatural origin of the Scapular.”
“His very nobility of origin, said Pope Leo The Virgin has linked two wonderful promises to him:
First promise
It is the great promise, the privilege of preservation or exemption from hell for all who die clothed in the Carmelite Scapular. Praying with fervor to the Virgin, St. Simón Stock, General of the Carmelite Order, the Blessed Virgin appeared to him surrounded by angels. Virgin (July 15, 1251) and giving him, as a pledge of her maternal love and unlimited power, the Holy Scapular, she promised him that as many as died clothed in it would not be condemned. The words of the Virgin were these: "He who dies with the Scapular will not suffer the fire of hell."
Second promise
While Pope John XXIII was praying, the Virgin appeared to him, dressed in the Carmelite habit, and promised to remove the purgatory of the Saturday after death to whoever died with the Scapular. Mary told the Pope: “I, Mother of mercy, will free from purgatory and take to heaven, on Saturday after death, all those who have worn my Scapular.”
Such is the Sabatino privilege, granted by the Queen of Purgatory, in favor of her Carmelite brothers, Pope John XXII and promulgated by him in the Sabatina Bull (March 3, 1322) later approved by more than twenty Supreme Pontiffs.
For him, on the Saturday following the death of the Carmelite brothers, or as the church interprets it, as soon as possible, but especially on Saturday, according to the declaration of Paul V, the Virgin of Carmel, with maternal affection, frees them from expiatory prison. and introduces them to Paradise. Pope Paul V issued on January 20, 1613 the Sgte. Decree:
“Let the Carmelite Fathers preach that the Christian people can piously believe that the Blessed Virgin Mary with her continuous intercessions, pious suffrages and merits and special protection, will help souls after death, mainly on Saturday, a day dedicated to her. of his brothers who wear the Carmelite habit.”
Conditions to earn these privileges
To deserve the first Promise of Final Perseverance, one must have received the Scapular from the hands of a priest, always wear it, especially at the hour of death, and inscribe one's name in the book of the brotherhood.
