Sister Amalia Aguirre was a pious nun who lived in Brazil. Together with Monsignor Conde Francisco Von Campos Barreto, bishop of the Diocese of Campiñas, they founded an institute in Campiñas, Brazil. Their convent was called the Institute of the Missionaries of Scourged Jesus. Bearing the stigmata of Christ, Sister Amalia was destined to be a “victim soul” for those most in need, in accordance with her generous nature.
On November 8, 1929, a relative of Sister Amalia approached her in need of help. His wife was terminally ill and his family was in great suffering. According to doctors, her spouse's condition was incurable. Not knowing what to do or what God expected of him, he turned to Sister Amalia, his last hope. Sister Amalia felt obligated to help him in any way possible and turned to our Divine Savior.
Sister Amalia entered the house of God and knelt before the altar, then extended her arms toward Jesus and asked, “If there is no hope for T…'s wife, then I am willing to offer my life for the Mother of that family. What do you want me to do?”
Jesus answered, “If you wish to receive these favors, ask Me through the Tears of My Mother.”
Sister Amalia furthermore asked “How should I pray?”
When he responded, Jesus told him the following invocations: “Oh Jesus, hear our prayers for The Tears of Your Most Holy Mother! Oh Jesus, look at the tears of the one who loved you most on earth and loves you most fervently in heaven!”
Finally, Jesus adds, “My daughter, any request that people make to me for the Tears of my Mother, I will grant them with love. Later, my Mother will extend this treasure to our beloved Institute as a Magnet of Mercy.”
