The Scapular of Saint Joseph
The Scapular of St. Joseph was approved for the Diocese of Verona by a Decree of the Congregation of Rites On April 15, 1898, Pope Leo XIII granted the General of the Capuchins the power to bless and invest the faithful everywhere with the Scapular. From the Diocese of St. Claude in France, the Scapular, which was originally white, was propagated by the Capuchin Order; however, it was later decreed that the form and colour used in Verona should be preferred.
The virtues of the Scapular of Saint Joseph
Through the pious use of this Sacramental, we will remember the three special virtues of the Glorious Saint Joseph: humility, modesty and purity. He also invites us to turn to Saint Joseph in our needs, asking him, in particular, to pray for the Catholic Church. Finally, the fact of carrying him with us is a very favorable sign for obtaining the grace of a good and pious death through the intercession and prayers of the Custodian and Father of Virgins, Saint Joseph.
